ESG

Overview

In Presico Engineering, we recognize the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and are actively working to enhance our sustainability practices. As part of this effort, we have initiated the tracking of our carbon emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 categories. This comprehensive approach allows us to better understand and manage our environmental footprint, ultimately guiding our strategies towards a more sustainable future.

Current ESG Accomplishments

Governance

Presico’s management plays an active role in guiding the sustainability journey by regularly monitoring sustainability progress, evaluating the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives against key metrics, and ensuring that they align with established sustainability goals.

Our company is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all our operations. Our code of conduct outlines zero-tolerance policy for bribery and corruption. We maintain a robust Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) compliance measures and a Conflict-of-Interest policy, ensuring the protection of stakeholder information and the integrity of our organizational operations.

In our projects, we collaborate with two key teams within the Engineering Division: the team responsible for drafting IT/CAD/BIM services and the Safety Coordination team.

The head of Drafting IT/BIM/CAD oversees critical IT infrastructure and leads BIM and CAD services for project support. This role faces potential risks including network security threats, data breaches, and project delays. Vulnerabilities range from malware and ransomware attacks to BIM-specific challenges like model clashes and data inconsistencies. Our ISO 27001 certification is crucial in mitigating these risks. It establishes a comprehensive framework for protecting sensitive information, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining system availability. This certification enables us to identify security threats, implement controls, and continuously improve our information security posture, safeguarding both IT infrastructure and BIM project data.

To manage the project administrative work, the Senior Project Executive leads a team of project administrators to coordinate the project administrative tasks, manage material procurement, and ensure timely delivery of materials with proper quality control documentation. They assist in sourcing materials, compiling quotations from vendors and subcontractors, creating bills of quantities, and handling project progress claims and invoice processing. Some potential risks include supply chain disruptions due to material shortage, quality control issues for materials, and price fluctuations of materials which could affect project budgets.

With ISO 9001 in place, these risks can be mitigated as it provides a framework to help us streamline our process and improve our project outcome. It helps us to implement consistent procedures for procurement, proactively identify potential issues in supply chain, and implement key performance indicators to track project progress and identify areas for improvement.

Social

The social pillar of the ESG report plays a crucial role in demonstrating Presico’s commitment to its workforce, focusing more on enhancing employee safety and well-being.

We have adopted the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policy to demonstrate our dedication to employee well-being and safety. With these in place, we have enhanced our ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, reduce incidents, and improve overall employee health and satisfaction. Our WSH policy ensures that employees are well-versed in and adhere to the safety protocols, use all required personal protective equipment, and take proactive measures to maintain a safe work environment. We also have anti-harassment and bullying, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion policies in place, ensuring a respectful work environment where everyone is treated fairly and with dignity

Our Head of Safety Coordinators leads a team managing health, safety, and environmental aspects across projects, addressing risks like workplace accidents and regulatory non-compliance. Potential hazards include electrical shocks, falls, and exposure to hazardous materials. Our ISO 45001 certification provides a framework for a robust occupational health and safety management system, enabling systematic hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention. This certification fosters continuous improvement in safety practices, adapting to changing project needs and regulations, thus enhancing worker protection and operational efficiency.

In addition to physical well-being and safety, we also prioritize our employees’ well-being and ensure that their hard work is recognized. To support this, we organize regular social events such as team dinners and annual company trips. Past company trips include traveling to Desaru, Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. We have noted that team bonding activities such as these can effectively reduce stress levels and improve the team dynamic, contributing to stronger relationships and a more positive work environment. We will continue to enhance our employee well-being initiatives as we strive to create an even more supportive work environment that prioritizes mental health and fosters overall job satisfaction.

 Environment

We are proud to be ISO 14001 certified, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship while enhancing our reputation and trust among clients and partners. This certification enables us to closely track and manage our significant environmental impacts, including energy consumption, water usage, and waste management. By adhering to ISO 14001 standards, we ensure continuous improvement in our environmental performance and responsible resource management.

The assembly of Air Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) systems is a key component of Presico’s operations. Recognizing that ACMV systems can contribute significantly to carbon emissions due to refrigerant use, we take proactive measures to minimize their environmental impact. We prioritize the selection of high-efficiency ACMV systems and actively advise our clients to adopt premium, energy-efficient solutions. In particular, we recommend ACMV products certified with Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) Green Ticks, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards while enhancing energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprints.

We have also initiated the tracking of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions for Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories, as detailed in the Appendix. We have established FY 2024 (January 2024 to December 2024) as the baseline year, while the reporting boundary will cover our Headquarter (HQ) office in Singapore. The carbon emission factors are obtained from the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, and the Energy Market Authority (EMA).

Our company demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental sustainability through our active participation in numerous Green Mark certified projects, as detailed in the Appendix. We collaborate closely with clients to design and develop buildings that meet and exceed the stringent standards established by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The Green Mark certification scheme assesses buildings based on key criteria including energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and innovation.

Through these efforts, we aim to actively support Singapore’s vision of reducing environmental impact while enhancing occupant health and well-being.

Moving forward

Presico will commit to participate in The DBS ESG Ready Programme. The DBS ESG Ready Programme is a collaborative initiative by DBS Bank and Enterprise Singapore to become future-ready by building our sustainability capabilities and contributing to a more sustainable economy.

We have appointed proficient carbon consultants, Climate Asia Pte Ltd (herein “Climate Asia”) to support our decarbonization roadmap initiatives. Their expertise as GHG Professionals bring extensive experience in guiding our carbon tracking and monitoring efforts, aiding us in establishing actionable decarbonization targets. Notably, they have co-authored the SGBC Guidelines on Embodied Carbon, underscoring their recognized and robust expertise in strengthening our decarbonization journey.

In this journey with DBS and Climate Asia, we commit to continue our carbon accounting journey to calculate GHG emissions on the Carbon Compaz platform powered by DLabs Pte Ltd.
